Listen up.
I sat down with Matthew Whyatt on The CEO and the Salesman podcast and we didn’t waste time with surface-level talk. We went deep on what actually moves the needle when you’re trying to scale a business without torching your health, your marriage, or your peace of mind.
Because here’s the truth most gurus won’t tell you: The old world rewarded obedience. The new world demands killer instincts.
And if you’re still grinding like it’s 2009 — trading sleep, family dinners, and your own body for revenue — you’re playing the game wrong.
I know, because I’ve lived both sides.
Back in high school I turned down eight football scholarships to start mowing grass. Built that lawn care business to $3 million and sold it. I’ve been in the arena since before “entrepreneur” was a cool word on Instagram. I’ve felt the chip on my shoulder when teachers and counselors tried to talk me out of the path I knew was mine.
That journey taught me one unbreakable rule: You have to believe in yourself — especially when nobody else does.
But belief alone isn’t enough. You need systems. You need leverage. And you need the right mindset — what I call The Hunter Head Game.
The Real Constraint Isn’t More Leads
Matthew asked the question every stuck business owner eventually asks: “Coach, what’s the first thing you look at when someone’s business is plateaued?”
My answer surprised him.
I don’t start with tactics. I start with happiness.
What game are you actually playing? Are you trying to build a $350M empire like my friend Tommy Mello, or do you just want to stop worrying about bills so you can coach your kid’s soccer team?
Too many entrepreneurs chase someone else’s scoreboard and end up stepping over hundreds to pick up tens.
They say they need more leads. What they really need is a better sales system, sharper follow-up, and the guts to understand who they’re actually talking to.
The fortune is in the follow-up. Most pipelines are dying because owners send three lazy texts and then convince themselves “they’ll opt out.”
Stop that.
AI Is About to Change the Labor Game Forever
We talked about systems and scaling, and I laid it out plain: software gave us efficiency on processes.
AI is giving us efficiency on people.
Think industrial revolution — but for your daily grind.
In the next 36–60 months, the top salespeople won’t just have assistants. They’ll have agentic AI working beside them 24/7 — handling follow-ups, qualifying leads, even making calls.
I’m already living this with Alli — my AI lead detective that spots anonymous website visitors at the personal level so you can reach them earlier in the buying cycle instead of watching 95% of your traffic disappear forever.
If you’re still doing everything manually while your competitors arm themselves with AI, you’re about to get hunted.
Technology is undefeated. First-mover advantage belongs to the ones who move now.
The FRESH Framework: My Personal Non-Negotiables
The part that hit hardest for a lot of listeners was when we got real about life design.
I shared the exact framework I use to stay grounded while building: FRESH.
- F — Finances: Check your bank balance every single day. What you pay attention to grows. Where attention goes, energy flows.
- R — Relationships: Kiss your wife goodnight every night — even after an argument. Family isn’t a trade-off for success.
- E — Environment: Keep your house, office, and vehicles clean. A messy space creates a messy mind. Hire help if you need to — it’s one of the highest-ROI moves for your mental clarity.
- S — Spirituality: Spend 10–15 minutes a day in prayer and gratitude. Thank the higher power and ask to be a good steward of the blessings coming your way.
- H — Health & Fitness: Move your body every day. Life is nothing more than beating gravity until the day you don’t. Walk, run, lift — just don’t sit still and let stress win.
These aren’t cute suggestions. They’re non-negotiables that create real leverage.
I break them down even deeper in the free FRESH Framework guide + daily habit tracker I put together for you. It’s the exact system I live by so I can scale without sacrificing what matters most.
The One Exercise That Can Change Everything in 60 Minutes
Before we wrapped, I gave listeners a tactical move they can do today — no tools, no cost, just pen and paper.
Take one quiet hour. Write down every problem you think you have. Don’t solve anything yet. Then circle the biggest one that would move the needle most. Flip the page and brain-dump every wild solution you can think of.
Most people never slow down long enough to do this. Their head stays a mess of anxiety and half-thoughts. Do it once and you’ll see why it’s powerful.
The Hunter Head Game Is the Operating System
This whole conversation ties back to the message I spent 10 years distilling into my book The Hunter Head Game.
The old economy rewarded showing up, following rules, and collecting a pension. That world is gone.
Today you either develop killer instincts or you become prey.
Whether you’re a solo founder, a sales leader, or scaling a team — the skills that will last are sales, systems, and the mindset to hunt opportunity instead of waiting for permission.
I’m heading out on book tour early 2026 with my family. If you want the full playbook, grab The Hunter Head Game now.
And if you’re ready to add serious AI leverage right now, go meet Alli — your first AI team member who actually works.
Your Move
Stop trading your health and relationships for growth that leaves you empty.
You don’t need permission to build something meaningful. You need clarity, systems, leverage, and the right mindset.
That’s what I’m here for.
Stay hungry. Stay hunting.
